I have always had an eye for “good houses”, not expensive houses, not the latest style houses but “good houses’. I pride myself in finding houses and neighbourhoods with an opportunity for a great lifestyle and an ability to build equity for the future. This skill is one of the building blocks of my varied career in nursing, business ownership and ultimately real estate sales (my favourite!).
I started my career as a Registered Nurse in Kingston becoming the research coordinator hired by Queen’s at the Psychiatric Hospital. I’m proud to have worked with some amazing forward thinking people that resulted in improving and in some cases saving several lives.
Throughout this time my husband and I bought and sold several homes always with an eye for unique opportunities. Our enthusiasm and success in these investments led me to leave nursing and join Graham Thomson Real Estate, a boutique high service agency in Kingston, Ontario.
I quickly became one of the top 5 agents but the evening work didn’t fit well with a young family. Keith and I decided to buy a travel agency. After a huge amount of work we transformed this small agency to the top corporate office with 3 offices and 13 staff. Housing continued as an important part of our life building our dream home on the Rideau Waterway. I sold the travel agency and returned to my favourite career, real estate sales. In reflection “It’s been an interesting career path, never boring! I now thoroughly enjoy using my interpersonal skills of nursing, my financial skills of business ownership and my “keen eye” for housing to help people make a significant change in their lives by moving to a new community or home that is ‘just right for them’.”
